often when looking out at the world surrounds me, i focus on the derelict aspects of common everyday scenes. maybe it’s the pessimisst in me, maybe the realist, but it’s funny to think how humans create various structures/objects/things/whatever to better human flow. flow of life? according to whom? hmmmm?

i took these photos. i like taking photos, even though i study film at school. life is funny like that.

Justin James Reed creates beautiful stark photos out of suburban landscapes. Emptiness yet everything. Barren yet full. Destroyed yet renewed. He’s photos remind me of the calm before some really horrid catastrophe, they emit a creepy undertone of human destruction and unknown self-destruction. basically i like them.

Justin James Reed was born in Oregon. He has lived all over the United States, and currently makes Pennsylvania his home. Justin recieved his BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and his MFA from the Tyler School of Art. He has worked as an intern at the Polaroid 20×24 Studio and as a colour printer and assistant photographer Alec Sloth. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.

Michel Gondry, born May 8, 1963, is a French Academy Award-winning screenwriter, film, commercial and music video director. He is noted for his inventive visual style and manipulation of mise en scène.

Michel Gondry was born in Versailles, France. His career as a filmmaker began with creating music videos for the French rock band Oui Oui, in which he also served as a drummer. The style of his videos for Oui Oui caught the attention of music artist Björk, who asked him to direct the video for her song “Human Behaviour“. The collaboration proved long-lasting, with Gondry directing a total of seven music videos for Björk. Other artists who have collaborated with Gondry on more than one occasion include Daft Punk, The White Stripes, The Chemical Brothers, The Vines, Steriogram, Radiohead, and Beck. Gondry has also created numerous television commercials. He pioneered the “bullet time” technique later adapted in The Matrix,^[1] in a 1998 commercial for Smirnoff vodka, as well as directing a trio of inventive holiday-themed advertisements for clothing retailer Gap, Incorporated. is a little twisted, but i like that. as i sifted through his work i thought to myself how his painting resembles a modern day Magritte, only he’s a bit more fascinated with surgical matter and anatomy. he lives and works in Milan, Italy and has had several group exhibitions showing his work. It’s kind of refreshing to see this kind of painting, because it doesn’t verge on extreme gore or on being totally overdone…like still lifes or kitty cats. Rather it is detailed and slightly disturbing whilst still keeping a storybook kind of feel. interesting.
